Natural barium sulfate has a specific gravity of 4.0-4.5, moderate hardness, brittle, chemically stable, insoluble in water, ethanol and hydrochloric acid. It is chemically stable, insoluble in water, ethanol and hydrochloric acid. It is resistant to acid and alkali and water. Barite chemical composition for BaSO4, crystal is orthorhombic (rhombohedral) crystal system of sulfate minerals.
